Just because movement is a word that has meaning
doesn’t mean we all share the same idea
about what it can actually be.
I am a movement artist and researcher based in Brussels and Marseille. My practice is a continuous exploration of the political, physical and cognitive realms of movement. Born and raised in Puerto Rico (a US unincorporated territory), I’ve grown into myself while both bathing in and shedding the consequences of colonialism through art. My movement practice became my catharsis and a constant source of joy, release and relief. It is the means through which I explore the world. I focus on investigating concepts such as euphoria, grief, immigration, language and anatomy through improvisation.
My artistic journey began with a physical theatre course. During my university years, I simultaneously trained and explored movement through modern, contemporary, and experimental dance. My exposure to the Alexander Technique heightened my interest in ongoing anatomical research, inspiring me to create choreographic pieces that merge anatomy with both performing and visual arts.
I have worked across various cultural hubs, including Paris, Montréal, New York, Brussels Puerto Rico and Marseille. I hold a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Art and Choreography from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, ISAC (Institut Supérieur des Arts et Chorégraphies) and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Performing Arts and Modern Languages, with a specialisation in French, from the University of Puerto Rico.
I offer both movement workshops and creative writing lessons in schools and communities. My work turns the body into a vessel where forms, concepts, and movements coalesce.
